Terms & Conditions

What we do, what we will not do, and what the pay-after-acceptance model actually commits each side to.

These terms and conditions govern the use of this website and the services CiteWise Research Private Limited provides. Using the site means accepting them. Engaging us for work means accepting them together with whatever we agree specifically in writing for your project, which takes precedence where the two differ.

What we provide

We provide publishing support to researchers, which may include journal and conference selection, manuscript structuring and language editing, pre-submission review, help preparing responses to reviewers, and handling the mechanics of submission and correspondence.

What we do not do

These limits are not negotiable, and we would rather lose the work than blur them:

  • We do not write your paper. The research, the results and the intellectual contribution are yours. We help you express them.
  • We do not guarantee acceptance. Nobody can. Acceptance is an editorial decision made by a journal, and any service claiming to guarantee it is either lying or doing something you do not want associated with your name.
  • We do not fabricate, alter or manufacture data, authorship, affiliations or citations.
  • We do not work with predatory venues, and we will tell you if a journal you are considering appears to be one.
  • We do not sell authorship or arrange for anyone to be added to a paper they did not contribute to.

Authorship and research integrity

You remain the author. You are responsible for the accuracy and originality of your research, for having the right to publish it, and for any approvals your institution or ethics board requires. Our editing does not transfer any authorship interest to us, and we do not ask to be credited.

Where a journal requires disclosure of editorial assistance, we encourage you to make it. Every major publisher permits language and editorial support; concealing it creates a problem that disclosing it does not.

Fees and the pay-after-acceptance model

We do not ask for advance payment for placement support. The agreed fee becomes payable when your paper receives a formal acceptance from the journal we supported you in submitting to. If it is not accepted, no placement fee is owed.

Two things this does not cover, so there is no misunderstanding later:

  • Publisher charges are separate. Article processing charges, open-access fees and any other amount the journal itself levies are paid by you directly to the publisher. They are not ours and we do not control them.
  • Scope agreed separately is charged separately. Where we agree standalone work — for example editing with no submission attached — the terms for it are set out in writing before it begins.

Exact fees, scope and timelines are agreed per project in writing before work starts. Nothing on this website is a quotation.

Your responsibilities

  • Give us accurate information about your manuscript and its history, including whether it has been submitted or rejected elsewhere.
  • Do not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal at a time — every major publisher prohibits it.
  • Respond within the timeframes a journal sets for revisions. We cannot extend an editor's deadline on your behalf.

Timelines

We give realistic estimates and meet them where the work is within our control. Peer review is not within our control: review duration, editorial decisions and publication scheduling belong to the journal, and delays there are not a failure of this agreement.

Confidentiality and your data

Your unpublished work is confidential. See our Privacy Policy for how information is stored, who can reach it, and what the site measures — this website uses Google Analytics, and that page explains what it records and how to opt out.

Limitation of liability

We are liable for the service we provide. We are not liable for editorial decisions made by journals, for publisher fees, for delays in peer review, or for indirect or consequential losses. Where liability cannot be excluded by law, it is limited to the fees you have paid us for the work in question.

Intellectual property

The text, design and images on this website belong to CiteWise Research, except publisher names and marks, which belong to their respective owners. CiteWise Research is an independent publishing-support service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an agent of any publisher or journal named on this site.

Ending an engagement

Either side may end an engagement in writing. Work completed to that point is handed over. Where a manuscript has already been submitted with our support and is subsequently accepted, the agreed fee remains payable.

Governing law

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

Changes

We may update these terms and conditions. The date at the top of this page reflects the current version. Terms agreed in writing for an ongoing project are not changed retroactively by an update here.
